***SCHOOL CLOSED FRIDAY 1ST FEBRUARY***
School will be closed Friday 1st February due to the forecasted snow. We will not be able to clear the site so that it is safe for all to access the school. In addition, a significant number of staff anticipate not being able to make the journey in safely. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Enjoy the snow and stay safe.
In the unlikely event that the school has to close for extreme weather, we will notify parents / carers by at least one of these methods by 7.30am:
- the school will be classified as closed on www.dorsetforyou.com
- there will be a notice on the school website
- parents will receive a text message
Coming soon in February – Wellbeing Week!
We are passionate about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in our school. To help kick this off we will be having a wellbeing week where the children will be partaking in some workshops and will learn lots about looking after their own mental health.
The NHS states that the five steps to mental health are:
To be active
To keep learning
To give to others
To be mindful
We will be focusing on all of these.
The Friends of the school have very kindly funded some of these workshops – so thank you to everyone who supports the events that the Friends organise.
Watch this space for more information!

Friday 14th December - Celebration Assembly
Congratulations to the children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 who received Christian Values certificates in celebration assembly today. Also congratulations to those children whose work was shared in the Gold Book.
Wednesday 12th December - Milldown goes to the Panto!!
On Wednesday12th December Milldown Academy took the whole school to the Lighthouse in Poole to watch the pantomime Dick Whittington. They were there to support two students in the Young Company; Finlay in Year 4 and former student Charlie, currently in Year 7 at The Blandford School. Everybody pupils, staff and adult helpers had a fantastic time - there was plenty of booing and cheering and audience participation and the school was particularly proud of supporting two of it's own as well as seeing an amazing production! There was an ice cream for all in the interval and lots of singing on the buses back to school.

Garden Improvement Day with LV
During the October half term staff from LV spent the day at school working with the school garden team. They helped to build and paint planters, clear the school orchard and to improve some of the flower beds. They worked tirelessly and have made a real difference to our school grounds. Thank you to the team from LV, from all at Milldown Academy
