Year 5 Kites
In Year 5 every child is welcomed, valued and supported.
We encourage children to be independent and creative in their learning. Maths and Literacy are taught every day to give the children opportunities to consolidate their learning, and to have opportunities to practice and extend their learning on a daily basis.
Children have input into each Topic subject as to what they would like to find out, and how they would like to research and present their work. We recognise all children have their own interests and strengths and we encourage them to use these and share them with us.
We encourage every child to have high expectations for presentation and content of their work, as well as encouraging them to participate in class discussions.
As part of the Year 5 responsibilities we are ‘buddies’ to the new Reception children – looking after them at playtimes, introducing them to rules and routines at the start of the school year, supporting them in some of their Topic work and generally helping them to be safe and happy in school.
Year 5s are also our ‘guides’ to welcoming visitors to school, to take them on a tour of the school and to honestly answer any questions they may have!
We are proud of our Year 5s and their achievements.
